ARES 2025 Conference Doctoral Student Call for Applications for Financial Support

Call for the James R Webb ARES Foundation International Scholar Travel Grant (2025)
The James R Webb ARES Foundation is taking applications for its International Scholar Travel Grant program to support real estate scholars from emerging markets to attend and present their research at the 41st American Real Estate Society Conference taking place in Tucson, Arizona from April 8th to April 11th, 2025. The award (US$2,000) can be used to pay for transportation to the ARES conference, visas, lodging at the conference hotel and/or conference registration. International scholars from emerging markets conducting research in real estate, finance, economics, housing, urban planning, construction management, and any other field relevant to real estate/property who are members of IRES sister societies are invited to apply.
Deadline for submission is: 30th November, 2024

IRES Travel Grant Application
IRES is taking applications for grants to assist with travel to participate in the 2025 PRRES conference in Hobart, Tasmania, and the 2025 ARES conference in Tucson, Arizona. We encourage early applications so that those selected can use the promised funds to support their visa applications and requests for additional funding from other sources.
Preference for IRES funding will be given to academic faculty/teacher/researcher participants from developing countries who are active in a sister society beyond presenting papers, such as conference organizer, officer, committee chair, journal editor, or similar. Preference is also given to those attending a conference outside their home region. Applicants must be participating in the conference such as presenting a paper or appearing on a panel. The funding is intended as a supplement and is usually in the US$500-$1000 range. Advances are not possible, only reimbursement at or after the conference. Completed IRES applications should be returned to Karen M. Gibler, the IRES Executive Director, at kgibler@gsu.edu . Please also contact Karen with any questions.
IRES Travel Grant Brings AfRES Leader to 2024 ERES Conference
The 23rd Latin American Real Estate Society (LARES) International Conference will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on the 17th and 18th, October 2024.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is on the 7th, June 2024.

IRES biennial Doctoral Student Fellowship
The International Real Estate Society (IRES) invites applications for the biennial Doctoral Student Fellowship that will be held in October and November 2023.
In this program, doctoral students nearing the completion of their degree have the opportunity to network with a global group of doctoral students and meet and learn success strategies from senior academics. The program runs over eight weeks and includes five, one-hour online sessions held fortnightly beginning with a plenary session in early October (dates TBA). At each meeting students will hear from senior academics speaking on a variety of topics related to research and career development. If accepted into the program, student participants will commit to attending all sessions.

2022: IRES Travel grant consideration IRES will start considering travel grant applications for 2023 for society leaders from AfRES and LARES as well as AsRES’s and PRRES’s developing countries to attend these sister society meetings. Historically, grants average $1,000. Preference will be given to applicants attending the joint PRRES-IRES conference. In addition, preference is given to people who:
Academics are preferred to professionals and faculty are preferred to PhD students. Applicants can send an email to Karen M. Gibler (IRES Executive Director) at kgibler@gsu.edu explaining which conference they want to attend, how they are active in their home society, how they will participate in the destination conference, expected total travel costs, and the amount of any other source of funding. The European Real Estate Society (ERES) was established in 1994 to create a structured and permanent network between real estate academics and professionals across Europe. The Society is dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of real estate research throughout Europe. Incorporating many national property research societies, academic researchers and real estate practitioners, the annual conference and regular publications provide a forum for information flow and debate on research issues.

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) was established in 1993 to provide a formal focus for property researchers, educators and practitioners in the Pacific-Rim region. The Society has over 120 members from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Korea. The Pacific Rim Property Research Journal is the official quarterly refereed journal of and is intended to offer academics and practitioners a forum for the dissemination of the latest ideas in property research in the Pacific Rim region.

The African Real Estate Society (AfRES) was established in 1997 as the fifth regional real estate society in IRES. The mission of AfRES is to promote networking, research and education among property professionals across Africa. In addition to its affiliation with IRES, it is affiliated with sister societies in North America (ARES), Asia (AsRES), Europe (ERES), the Pacific Rim (PRRES) and Latin America (LaRES).

Latin American Real Estate Society |

The Latin American Real Estate Society (LARES) was established in 2000 as another regional real estate society under IRES. The Society is a service organization, non-bureaucratic, whose main goal is to diffuse information and knowledge between the real estate professional and academic communities through publications and technical meetings. In August 2004, LARES held its fourth annual conference in San Paulo, Brazil.
